Google Groups, Google's mailing list and forum app, has become part of Google Apps for Premier Edition and Education Edition users. Businesses and educational institutions can now run their mailing lists on Groups, which plugs a big hole in the enterprise package that Google has been pushing, and offers one more incentive for businesses to switch from Microsoft's Office and Office Live.Google Groups' best feature is its flexibility. Users can administer their own lists without taking up an IT department's time, and they can also control how they interact with Groups. If one user prefers to read the mailing list like a forum on the web, but another user likes getting the messages directly to his inbox, both can get what they want without any effort on IT's part. Groups can also be used as an easy way to share calendars and Google Docs.
