Hate the voice on your GPS? Change it with Garmin Voice Studio

If you can't stand to hear another word from the obnoxious voice that delivers turn-by-turn directions on your GPS device, you may have a way out. If you've got a Garmin GPS, you can use the new Garmin Voice Studio to replace the device's recorded phrases - "recalculating!" - with recordings of your own. Personally, I can't stand the sound of my own voice any more than I can handle the smug, British GPS lady, but that's where friends with voice talent come in handy.

There are a few dozen phrases to record, which could take a while, but it might be worth it for the potential hilarity that could ensue. I mean, nobody's forcing you to record the phrases as scripted. You could use terminology from Star Trek, throw a weird accent in there, sing all the words ... the possibilities are unlimited. Garmin Voice Studio doesn't work with every Garmin device, though, so check the list before you download the free Windows app.
