Ad revenue isn't cutting it for Hulu anymore. The online TV site plans to expand its business to include a subscription service, reportedly priced at $9.95 a month. Hulu's current offerings -- the 5 most recent episodes of each show -- would remain free. The premium service will be called Hulu Plus, according to the LA Times. The subscription service, reportedly coming late next month, would include access to a deeper archive of episodes. If Hulu is an alternative to TV, Hulu plus could be an alternative to TV on DVD. This move comes in response to networks pulling content from Hulu, and speculation that Hulu needs a heavier advertising load if it wants to keep offering shows for free.
