When can I use ... is a great resource for browser compatibility advice

Developing for the Web can get quite rough at times, especially when IE is involved. Even when you take IE out of the picture (which you can't really do), there are still myriad differences among browsers, particularly in the implementation of newer technologies such as CSS3 and HTML5.

When can I use ... is invaluable for answering questions such as "Should I be using the new HTML5 video tag in my Web app, or should I wait?" It shows you -- in excruciating detail -- exactly which browsers and browser versions support each feature and it features extensive text notes as well. Effort has not been spared on this one!

Here's an example of a text note on that HTML5 video tag: "Note: Safari and Internet Explorer do not support Ogg/Theora/Vorbis, while Opera and Firefox don't support MPEG-4/H.264/AAC. Chrome supports both. Upcoming versions of Firefox, Chrome and Opera will support the WebM/VP8 format. IE9 will support it if the user has the codec installed."

So, as you can see, this is pretty current information-- that whole WebM/VP8 deal is quite recent. It's obvious that the site is being actively maintained, but the only attributions that I was able to find were a tiny footer that says "By Fyrd" and links to Alexis Deveria's Twitter page. Still, the information appears to be solid and well-researched.
