Apart from its inability to stay open in the background (which results from an iPhone limitation, not a problem with NPR's app), the iPhone version of NPR news seems to be the blueprint for the Android app. All the same great features are included. You can locate nearby stations using the phone's GPS, read stories as you listen to them, add stories to a playlist. NPR News is a misleading app name, because it also includes all of NPR's non-news offerings and some great music stations (my personal favorite is Seattle's KEXP).
Did I mention that NPR News is free? It's the bargain of the century, dear readers, and it's in the Android Market now.
