Panic's Transmit has been a familiar name in Mac software for years, to the point where that famous truck icon is synonymous with FTP for many Mac users. Even though there's solid competition out there -- Flow, for example, is quite nice -- Panic has worked hard to keep Transmit at the top of the heap. Today's release of Transmit 4 features a sexy revamped UI, under-the-hood speed improvements, and some very useful new features that are worth the upgrade price.Coolest things first: Transmit 4 adds Finder integration, showing your FTP volumes as honest-to-goodness disks that you can access even when Transmit isn't open. On top of FTP, it also handles SFTP, Amazon S3 storage and WebDAV. The sync button includes a "preview sync" mode, so you can see what the sync would do before you risk losing any files. It's not as if Transmit 3 wasn't getting the job done, but this is a major update that you should definitely snag if you use FTP regularly.
