Microsoft updates DreamSpark, students can now get Visual Studio 2010 free

Yes, the site might be pink... and blue... with astronauts, satellites and unicorns... but don't be fooled! Microsoft DreamSpark is all kinds of awesome! No kidding: if you're a university or high school/college student, you can download Microsoft developer, designer and gaming software for free.

For a full list of the software available with DreamSpark, check the support FAQ. In brief: Visual Studio 2010, Windows Phone(!), SQL Server 2008, Expression Studio 1.0 (and 2.0 trial version) and Windows Server 2008.

Even if you're not a student, it's worth checking out the DreamSpark site to experience Microsoft's attempt at young-and-savvy. Phrases such as 'pony up good cash' and 'totally cool' are rife. There's even a rhetorical question or two thrown in: "Oh, and by the way? These are the serious versions for serious people. We're talking, the big-time stuff."

Anyway, whatever -- this is awesome. Go get your freebies, students!
