Dragon brings high-quality dictation to the iPhone

Typing on an iPhone can be a pain, even with auto-correct -- sometimes especially with auto-correct, actually -- but there hasn't been a truly great speech-to-text app for the device yet. Well, get ready to give your fingers a rest. If the demo of Dragon's new iPhone dictation app that I just saw over at Gear Diary is any indication, practically perfect speech-to-text is now available on the iPhone.

Dragon does have some quirks. Obviously, speaking slowly and clearly helps, and you have to speak the punctuation you want ("comma," "period.") You only get 30 seconds at a time, but you can add snippets onto one another, so that's not a huge limitation. Also, in case you stumble over your words, or Dragon makes a rare mistake, you can pop open a keyboard and manually edit your text.

Oh, and Dragon for the iPhone is also free, for a limited time. No word on how much it will eventually cost, but now's the time to snap it up.

Check out the video from Gear Diary after the jump.
