Since Microsoft has decided to phase out Windows Mobile and make a fresh start with Windows Phone 7, it's no surprise that Mozilla has stopped development on the Windows Mobile version of Firefox. The browser was due out later this year, but under the circumstances, it makes more sense for Mozilla to divert its attention (and money) to developing Firefox on other platforms. We don't know yet whether Windows Phone 7 will be one of those platforms. Developers just got their hands on the Windows Phone 7 SDK, so it's too early to put a timetable on how quickly a version of Firefox can be whipped up on this new OS. To further complicate matters, Microsoft might decide to pull an Apple and block third-party browsers from running on its devices. I'd guess that Mozilla won't start developing for Windows Phone 7 unless they know the finished product can actually ship, especially with the Android and Maemo versions of Firefox in the pipeline.
