This may not be big news for some of our more religious readers, but it's certainly a nice surprise for me. I just found out that the Vatican has a very detailed, three dimensional, Flash tour of the Sistine Chapel. There's nothing new about the technology itself, but the implementation is very good. In fact, it's so good that I suspect parts of it may be rendered rather than actually photographed (look at the balcony in the screenshot -- is that a render or a photo?).
At any rate, it's a great find. I don't know if I'll ever get to visit the chapel itself, but being able to look around in such great detail and zoom in on the different artwork certainly puts it in perspective for me. It makes me want to go there even more. This is a great move on the Vatican's part. Maybe in the future, they'll do something with Microsoft Photosynth.
