VirtualBox 3.2 beta adds official support for OS X VMs -- sorta

Filed under:

Two major changes have appeared in the newly-released VirtualBox 3.2 beta 1. First, it's now branded as Oracle VM VirtualBox. Second, there's a new guest OS option listed: Mac OS X.

Don't get too excited just yet, though.

While the operating system is listed as a guest OS type in VirtualBox on all platforms, it's only working on Mac hardware. Still, for Mac users who have been waiting to be able to easily virtualize additional OS X desktops on their systems, VBox 3.2 should work nicely. The rest of us can, of course, get an OS X guest working with some additional hacking -- that's been possible for a while now.

Download VirtualBox 3.2 beta 1 and take it for a spin!
